Summary

Underground / Tobias Hill Heman Chong

Chong has been working on his Cover (Versions) series since 2009, painting imagined book covers, mostly of books he hopes to read. The book cover series is his most famous body of work, and they have been exhibited in every art capital since its inception. The canvases depict book covers for a wide range of literary titles with covers which seem to play with another, depending on our impression of each story.

Chong’s work provides intersections between image, performance, situations and writing. He continuously interrogates the many functions of the production of narratives in our everyday lives.
