Untitled IV Mark Francis

Mark is known for his use of colour and large oil paintings that represent microscopic imagery and scientific images that range from fauna to insects, geology, astronomy and medicine. He draws inspiration from biological forms when recreating shapes and markings, but these are not easily identifiable and create a sense of the abstract. This series of prints shows how Mark portrays microscopic images using bold colour and brushstrokes.

Mark Francis

Born in Ireland in 1962, Mark studied at Central Saint Martins in London for five years before spending one year at Chelsea School of Art. His work is included in the collections of New York’s Metropolitan Museum and London’s Victoria and Albert Museum. He has also exhibited at the Tate Gallery and Royal Academy.
